Price Guide
Drive Away Price calculations are extremely complex, making difficult for new car buyers to make straightforward choices. To help you cut through this confusion we have performed all these calculations, by making some ‘typical buyer’ assumptions. You may be eligible for discounts if you are a pensioner or business buyer, or other special category.

Premium Paint
Our price calculations do not include premium paint. Typically manufacturers charge a premium of around $500 for any colour other than white. This varies by manufacturer, and we have not included this figure in our Price Guidance.

MSRP (or MRRP)
The manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) is the base price of the vehicle from the manufacturer, exclusive of ‘Dealer Delivery’.

Dealer Delivery
Linked to the distance your local dealership is from the port or factory. Your figure may differ from the guidance we have shown, as for comparison purposes we are using state capital: .

Registration
Registration calculations vary by state, and are of a level of complexity that only a state government could begin to conceive. WA takes the main prize for most outrageously complex mathematical formula, and VIC a close second for most elaborate use of lookup tables.

CTP
In some states CTP is fixed by the state government. Elsewhere we have attempted to show the lowest of all authorised CTP insurers in your state - these figures are based on a 40yr old male driver with a clean driving record.

Stamp Duty
This is another state tax with different rules and calculations by state. It’s all quite complicated and painful to work out.

Luxury Car Tax
This is a Federal government tax. It differs for commercial and private vehicles, as well as by price.
